Ingredients
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1 tbsp olive oil
3 cups beef broth
1 cup heavy cream
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Prepare Meatballs:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and allspice. Mix until thoroughly combined.
Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
Sauté Meatballs:
Set your Instant Pot or Dutch oven to sauté mode. Add olive oil.
Brown the meatballs on all sides in batches, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Transfer browned meatballs to a plate and set aside.
Prepare Sauce:
If using an Instant Pot, turn off sauté mode. Pour in beef broth, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Stir well to combine.
Return the meatballs to the pot with the sauce.
Pressure Cook (Instant Pot) or Simmer (Dutch Oven):
Secure the lid on the Instant Pot and set to high pressure for 5 minutes. For a Dutch oven, cover with a lid and simmer gently over medium-low heat for about 30-40 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.
Thicken Sauce (Optional):
If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix flour with a small amount of water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the sauce in the pot. Cook for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
Serve:
Garnish the Swedish meatballs with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
Enjoy.
