Ingredients
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
- 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 cup Mountain Dew or any lemon-lime soda
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare the Apples
Peel, core, and slice each apple into 8 wedges.
- Wrap the Apples
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Place one apple wedge at the wide end of each triangle and roll it up tightly.
- Assemble the Dumplings
Place the rolled dumplings in the prepared baking dish, seam side down.
- Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour this mixture evenly over the dumplings.
- Add the Soda
Pour the Mountain Dew around (but not over) the dumplings. This helps create a sweet, caramel-like sauce during baking.
- Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the sauce is bubbling.
- Serve
Let cool slightly before serving. These apple dumplings are delicious on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Enjoy.
