Ingredients
Pie Crust:
1 pre-made pie crust or homemade crust, enough for a 9-inch pie
Filling:
1 lb (450g) ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp thyme
1/2 cup beef broth
1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
Cheese Layer:
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare Pie Crust: Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it against the sides. Trim any excess dough around the edges. Set aside.
Cook Beef Filling:
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Add the chopped onion, red and green bell peppers, and garlic. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables soften.
Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Stir well.
Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer, then add the heavy cream. Allow the mixture to cook until slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
Assemble Pie:
Spoon the beef filling evenly into the pie crust.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top of the filling, ensuring it covers evenly.
Add Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water. Brush this mixture over the edges of the crust for a golden finish.
Bake: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden, and the crust is lightly browned.
Enjoy.
