Swirled Cinnamon Roll Sheet Cake with Vanilla Glaze

Ingredients

For the Cake:
1 cup granulated sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1½ cups whole milk
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
For the Cinnamon Swirl:

1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Vanilla Glaze:

2 cups powdered sugar
5 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
    In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    Add the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Then, slowly pour in the melted butter and mix until smooth.
    Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and set aside.
  2. Make the Cinnamon Swirl:
    In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until it forms a thick, spreadable mixture.
    Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon mixture evenly over the cake batter.
    Using a knife or toothpick, swirl the cinnamon mixture through the batter to create a marbled effect.
  3. Bake the Cake:
    Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The top should be golden and set.
  4. Prepare the Vanilla Glaze:
    While the cake is baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable. If the glaze is too thick, add a bit more milk, one tablespoon at a time.
  5. Finish the Cake:
    Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
    Drizzle the vanilla glaze generously over the warm cake, allowing it to seep into the swirls.
  6. Serve:
    Slice into squares and serve warm. This cake is perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a special treat with coffee or tea!
