Ingredients
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup milk (or buttermilk)
2 tablespoons honey or sugar (optional)
2 tablespoons melted butter or oil
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the milk (or buttermilk), honey (or sugar), and melted butter (or oil). Mix until just combined and a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute, until it comes together smoothly.
Shape the dough into a round loaf or divide it into smaller portions for rolls.
Place the loaf or rolls onto the prepared baking sheet. If making a loaf, you can slash the top with a sharp knife.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. You can test for doneness by tapping the bottom of the loaf – it should sound hollow.
Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Enjoy.
