Ingredients
1 medium piece of fresh ginger (about 2-3 inches)
2 cups of water
1 large lemon
1 tablespoon honey (optional, for sweetness)
A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for an extra kick)
Instructions
Prep the Ingredients:
Wash the lemon and ginger thoroughly. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a small bowl. Set aside the lemon juice. If desired, you can also grate a little lemon zest for extra flavor. Peel the ginger and grate or finely chop it.
Boil the Water:
In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil.
Add Ginger:
Once the water reaches a boil, add the grated ginger and reduce the heat to a simmer. Let the ginger infuse the water for 5–10 minutes, depending on how strong you want the ginger flavor to be.
Add Lemon Juice:
After the ginger has steeped, turn off the heat and add the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir well to combine.
Sweeten and Spice (Optional):
If you prefer a sweet touch, add honey to taste. For a bit of heat, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne pepper. Stir until everything is well blended.
Serve Warm:
Strain the mixture into your favorite mug to remove the ginger pieces.
Enjoy.
