Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons instant yeast
1 cup warm milk
2 tablespoons plain yogurt (or sour cream)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Butter (softened, for filling)
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
Gradually add the warm milk, yogurt, and oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Divide and Fill:
After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal portions.
Flatten each portion slightly and place a dollop of softened butter in the center. Fold the edges over the butter to seal it, forming a ball.
Shape the Flatbreads:
Gently flatten each butter-filled ball into a thick disc, being careful not to let the butter leak out.
Cook the Flatbreads:
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Place one flatbread in the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and puffed. Repeat for the remaining flatbreads.
Serve Warm:
Serve these buttery flatbreads warm as a standalone snack or alongside soups, stews, or dips.
Enjoy.
