Ingredients
2 cups buttermilk
1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
4 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 450°F (230°C).
Prepare the Butter: Melt the butter in a microwave-safe dish or on the stovetop. Pour the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking dish, ensuring it covers the entire bottom.
Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined. Slowly add the buttermilk, stirring just until the dough comes together. The mixture should be slightly sticky.
Add Dough to Butter: Carefully drop the dough into the butter-filled baking dish. Using a spatula, gently spread the dough to cover the bottom of the dish evenly. You don’t need to be precise; the butter will naturally rise around the dough.
Score the Biscuits: Using a knife, score the dough into 9 or 12 squares (depending on your desired size). This will make it easier to cut the biscuits after baking.
Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the edges are crisp.
Serve: Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before cutting along the scored lines.
Enjoy.
