Ingredients
(Makes about 12 bars)
- 2 cups (120g) marshmallow fluff or marshmallow creme
- 1 ½ cups (260g) milk chocolate chips
- 1 ½ cups (260g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or coconut oil (optional, for thinning the coating)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pan
- Line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil, leaving some overhang for easy removal. Lightly grease the lining with non-stick spray.
Step 2: Make the Nougat Filling
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the milk chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring after each until fully melted and smooth.
- Add the marshmallow fluff to the melted chocolate and stir until completely combined. The mixture will become thick and fluffy.
Step 3: Shape the Filling
- Spread the nougat mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Use a spatula to smooth the top.
- Place the pan in the freezer for about 30 minutes, or until the nougat is firm enough to handle.
Step 4: Prepare the Chocolate Coating
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. If needed, stir in the vegetable or coconut oil to thin the chocolate for easier coating.
Step 5: Cut and Coat the Bars
- Remove the nougat from the pan using the parchment or foil overhang. Cut into rectangular bars (about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide).
- Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each bar into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Let excess chocolate drip off, then place the coated bar onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 6: Chill and Set
- Once all bars are coated, refrigerate them for about 15–20 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully set.
Storage Tips
- Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- For longer storage, freeze the bars in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Let thaw at room temperature before serving.
Pro Tips
- Double Dip: For a thicker chocolate coating, repeat the dipping process after the first layer has set.
- Flavored Variations: Add a splash of peppermint extract or a pinch of espresso powder to the nougat for a fun twist.
- Tidy Bars: Use a sharp knife dipped in warm water to cut clean, even bars from the nougat.
Enjoy.
